Reverse Engineering.
Save over 50% of the OEM price. Own the drawing. Reduce turnaround time.  SDI will replicate exiting machine parts onto drawings so they can be manufactured at a reduced cost. Items such as gears, cams, levers, arms and mounts, or virtually any part that has a tendency to wear out or break can be reverse engineered by SDI. Click here to see our historical cost savings data!
How do we do this?

The CMM by Starrett

SDI uses a Starrett Coordinate Machine (CMM) to replicate tight tolerance parts or strange shaped items such as cams.  The CMM is a precision machine that can graphically replicate a part into a 3D model in CAD with 0.0001” accuracy (repeatable). This information is then used to create drawings or the electronic model can be sent to a machine shop for part manufacturing.  SDI will replicate the part including materials, hardness and finish.  We are the only engineering company inside the North Eastern region that can do 3D surface scanning with a Starrett CMM.  This is a big advantage for companies looking to reduce costs from their current methods of part replacement.

What does this mean to you?  Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) are supplying parts for various companies at exorbitant rates.  SDI will create a drawing for you to submit to machine shops for quotation.  These quotations will quickly show the price fluctuations and who is best equipped to handle the part.  According to our calculations with current clients, we have found the average savings is now more than 2/3 the OEM price!  This means, on average, a part that costs $100 from the original manufacturer will cost less than $30 after we replicate it.  Delivery times from local manufacturers are dramatically improved as well – from 12 weeks down to as little as 2 weeks – without a rush order!

The Spare Parts Project: (n):  The replication of many parts or components which result in exponential cost savings to the client. These costs savings multiply year to year. See an example...

Don’t’ wait for emergency parts.

Don’t pay high, unfair costs.

Don’t wait for extended deliveries
